Dear Vice Mayor Chang,

Thank you for working so hard to preserve and assist the Giant Panda population. Because there are less than 1,000 left in the world, breeding programs are important. Since they are solely dependent on bamboo as their food source, it is even more important that we use all available means to develop an alternative food source for them.

I believe that we here in Oakland can help. We have the resources, talent and knowledge that no one else in the world can match when it comes to food, biological and agricultural science.
